About The Position

The YMCA of Delaware is committed to ensuring every youth and teen we serve is on a pathway to success, improving the health and wellbeing of every individual and family we serve, and uniting communities while inspiring service to others. The position involves ensuring member and guest safety by remaining vigilant at all times, responding quickly and intelligently to emergencies, and following established safety protocols. Lifeguards will also be responsible for checking pool chemicals, conducting swim tests, and managing lane lines according to the aquatic program schedule.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Must have current Ellis & Associates CARMP license (Free training available if not already certified).
  • A minimum of 20/25 or 20/25 corrected vision and free from permanent abnormalities of either eye.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure member & guest safety by remaining vigilant at all times.
  • Respond quickly, intelligently, decisively and in accordance with established emergency action plans.
  • Check pool chemicals at regular intervals throughout your shift and document.
  • Conduct swim tests and mark wristband swimmers aged 14 years old and younger.
  • Follow aquatic program schedule and manage lane lines accordingly.
  • Be familiar with the location of other departments in the branch and respond to incidents and accidents in these areas.
