About The Position
The Lifeguard position at the Memphis Jewish Community Center (JCC) is a vital role responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons using the aquatics facilities. Lifeguards are expected to supervise swimming activities, enforce pool regulations, and maintain a safe environment for all swimmers. This position requires a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and service, as well as the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations. Lifeguards will work various shifts, including mornings, mid-days, and evenings, providing flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the needs of the facility and its patrons. In addition to supervising swimming activities, lifeguards will be responsible for warning swimmers of any improper activities or potential dangers, enforcing pool regulations, and ensuring compliance with water safety policies. They will also administer first aid and CPR when necessary, rescue swimmers in distress, and evaluate conditions to ensure safety. Lifeguards will inspect pool facilities and equipment regularly to ensure they are safe and usable, and they will assist in maintaining cleanliness in the pool area and related facilities. The role also involves assisting with chlorine residual water tests and maintaining accurate records of water quality and any incidents that occur. Lifeguards will need to resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure a safe pool environment, especially when competing programs or priorities require the use of the aquatic facilities.
