The position is responsible for the safety, supervision, and discipline of all persons using deep or shallow water pool facilities. The lifeguard must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certifications. Additionally, the administration of Emergency Oxygen and Waterpark Lifeguard certifications is preferred. The lifeguard works under the direct supervision of the Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard and must be willing to work outside of normal hours based on departmental needs. The lifeguard must successfully pass an annual lifeguard water skills review test, attend pre-season training, and participate in on-site pool training. The minimum age requirement is 15 years, and the lifeguard must wear Department of Recreation staff attire while maintaining a clean appearance and positive demeanor. The employee may also be asked to provide assistance and/or accommodations for participants with disabilities.

  • Ensure the safety of all persons using the pool facilities.
  • Supervise pool activities and enforce rules and regulations.
