Lifeguard (5033)
About The Position
This position is responsible for: Serving as a lifeguard for all day youth center pool operations; provides constant surveillance of pool activities; maintains the cleanliness of the pool and pool area; monitors and controls the chemical levels of pool water ensuring proper levels are maintained at all times; prepares pool records in an accurate and complete manner; plans swimming activities at camp's pool. Ensuring safe aquatic operations by observing swimmers, protecting life, preventing accidents, and enforcing facility regulations under the direction of the Lead Lifeguard.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year experience working as a lifeguard preferred, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Current certifications in: - American Red Cross First Aid (or equivalent Title 22 certification) - CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR Pro) - Lifeguard Training (equivalent certifications may be accepted)
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
- Ability to swim with proficiency and endurance.
- Ability to tread water while holding a brick for 5 minutes.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Observe swimmers and respond quickly to emergencies.
- Enforce safety regulations and maintain a safe, clean pool environment.
- Report equipment defects, facility issues, and safety concerns.
- Maintain professional attitude and attend required staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
