About The Position

Performs lifesaving skills, provides instructional swimming lessons to children and adults, and performs routine maintenance on pool and pool facilities. Monitors all activities within the pool facility. Maintains flexible schedule for rotation to various pool sites.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Physically able to perform lifesaving skills, pool maintenance, record keeping, sanitation, and instruction. Must be able to perform swimming pool duties as required, such as: 1. Maintaining swimming pool facilities 2. Sanitation daily 3. Vacuuming 4. Filtration 5. Maintaining pool grounds indoor/outdoors 6. Other duties specified by the Aquatic Supervisor Must be able to communicate and work well with others. Must be responsible, reliable, and prompt. Must be able to participate and attend workshops. Must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and the general public. Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts. Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications. Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to maintain a valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
  • Ability to comply with all City of Laredo's policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Lifeguard Certificate is required
  • First Aid Certificate is required
  • CPR for Pro Certificate is required
  • Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
