About the Role: Your Watchful Eye, Their Ultimate Safety As a Lifeguard at Palma Ceia, you’ll be at the heart of our aquatic operations, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our members and their guests. Your mission? To maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming pool environment while being ready to spring into action when needed. This role is ideal for vigilant, proactive, and reliable individuals with a passion for poolside safety and creating positive experiences.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Hold and maintain current certifications in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR PRO, and AED (from accredited organizations like the American Red Cross, YMCA, or others).
  • Demonstrate physical and mental stamina to perform rescues, remain alert, and stay active throughout your shift.
  • Comfortable swimming and performing physically demanding rescue tasks.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40+ pounds and perform repetitive motion activities like walking, kneeling, and bending.
  • Excellent vision and hearing to detect distress signals and respond to emergencies effectively.
  • Maintain an active posture, transitioning between sitting, standing, and walking every five minutes.
  • This position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, sun exposure, humidity, and occasional rain.
  • Lifeguards must remain alert and physically active for extended periods, including standing, walking, and swimming.
  • The role involves exposure to pool chemicals and direct sunlight, and may include loud noise levels during peak times.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months to one year of experience as a certified lifeguard.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor swimmers with unwavering focus, perform rescues, administer first aid, and respond to emergencies with confidence.
  • Keep the pool area in pristine condition by maintaining cleanliness, organizing deck furniture, and ensuring pool equipment is in top shape.
  • Enforce pool rules consistently, clearly, and courteously to create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.
  • Build positive relationships with members and guests, providing guidance with a smile and answering any questions they may have.
  • Scan the pool every 10 seconds, staying alert to detect any distress signals or emergencies.
  • Assist with opening and closing tasks, ensuring the pool area is always event-ready.
  • Complete detailed incident/accident reports promptly and accurately.
  • Report necessary repairs or damages and show initiative in learning basic pool maintenance.
  • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training to stay sharp and prepared.
  • Step into other related duties as assigned by management.
