About The Position

The Lifeguard/Beach Attendant has the responsibility of maintaining order at the lake front beach area at Lake Avalon by preventing accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of patrons. They are responsible for monitoring the area for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid to patrons, custodial duties in maintaining the building, equipment, and taking care of customers. They will be responsible for collecting daily fees, handling money confidently, making change accurately, daily maintenance of canoes/kayaks, and transporting them to launch sites. Will work under the direct supervision of the Aquatics and Facility Manager.

Requirements

  • Current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid from the American Red Cross or equivalent recognized organization.
  • Strong knowledge of water rescue techniques and emergency response protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with patrons and colleagues.
  • At least 16 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor swimming areas continuously to identify and respond to potential hazards or emergencies.
  • Perform rescues and administer CPR, AED, and first aid as necessary to assist individuals in distress.
  • Provide safety education to patrons to promote responsible aquatic behavior.
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and management to conduct safety drills and maintain emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of the pool area and related equipment.
  • Document incidents and communicate effectively with supervisors and emergency personnel when required.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Handle canoe and kayak rentals and transport them to launch sites.
  • Document and report all accidents to the Aquatics Manager.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training.
  • Complete daily cash reports.
  • Assist with the Point of Sale (POS) system, selling daily admissions and merchandise.
  • Other duties as assigned or as required.
