About The Position

Tahoe Donner Association is looking for fun and personable Lifeguards to join our Summer Operations! Lifeguards perform general lifeguard duties pertaining to the safety and operation of an assigned swimming pool facility and program. Lifeguards are responsible for the safety and well being of all patrons both in and out of the water and keeping the pool area and facilities clean and free of hazards. This position keeps pool equipment in proper working order and enforces pool rules and regulations while ensuring that a pleasant family atmosphere is maintained. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees. Maintain current knowledge, implement and enforce Association policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Maintains discipline and orderly conduct. Maintains a constant vigil over members and guests at the pool facility; rescues any person in distress. Renders first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures. Monitor pool water levels and ensures pool skimmers are functioning correctly. Ensure the pool, bathrooms, deck and furniture are clean and maintained. Assist with opening and closing pool facilities including removing and replacing pool covers. Ensures pool equipment is in proper working order and in its place prior to opening the facility as well as at closing. Completes pool incident reports for all incidents in a timely manner. May be required to direct and instruct swimming, lifesaving and water safety classes. We have both part-time and full-time seasonal opportunities available!   • Requires current American Red Cross CPR/AED Certification.
  • Current First Aid Certification required.
  • Requires current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and “People” skills; Must love dealing with people.
  • Knowledge of Water safety and lifesaving principles and practices
  • Knowledge of swimming rescue and advanced first aid techniques including CPR
  • Basic principles used in the operation and mechanics of a swimming pool
  • Demonstrates advanced intermediate to expert level of swimming, capable of swimming at least 500 yards in less than 10 minutes.
  • These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a High school Diploma or equivalent plus up to one-month related training; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
