About The Position

The City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for year-round and summer Lifeguards . This position is a great opportunity to develop customer service and teamwork skills while serving the community at one of our facilities: Flat Rock Creek: 13120 W. 103rd St. Ad Astra Pool: 8265 Maurer Rd. Lenexa Rec Center: 17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy. Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center: 8801 Greenway Ln. Hiring Timeline: Applications are currently being accepted. The hiring process will be ongoing from November through April , with interviews and swim tests conducted throughout this period. Start dates will vary based on applicant availability and program needs. Schedule: This position requires weekday, weekend, and holiday availability. Applicants will provide their specific availability during the application process, which will be reviewed as part of the hiring decision. Lifeguards must also attend ongoing in-service training to maintain skills and certifications. Position Summary: Lifeguards ensure the safe and enjoyable operation of the Citys swimming pools. Responsibilities include supervising patrons, enforcing facility rules, providing first aid and emergency response, and assisting with general pool operations and cleanliness. Lifeguards promote safety and deliver excellent customer service to all visitors.

Requirements

Must be at least 15 years old
Ability to successfully complete the following skills assessment: Swim 300 yards continuously (freestyle or breaststroke; goggles allowed). Surface dive to a depth of 13 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, and swim 20 yards back within the allotted time. Tread water for 2 minutes in deep water without using arms for support.
Strong customer service and emergency response skills
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training with Waterpark module, CPR, and First Aid/AED certifications (or ability to obtain before employment)
