About the role HealthFitness is looking for opening shift, part-time Lifeguards to join the aquatics team at our client site located in West Hartford, CT. As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all of the aquatic facility members and guests. Schedule: Up to 20 hours, Weekends either 7:45 am - 12:00 pm or 12:00 pm - 4:15 pm Responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all of the aquatic facility members and guests.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
  • Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards.
  • Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner with strong customer service skills.
  • All lifeguards are required to perform a basic lifeguard skill test consisting of: 500 yard swim. Active, Passive, Submerged rescues. Spinal injury management in shallow and deep water. Other various techniques that were learned during the Lifeguard Training Program.
  • Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.
  • Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
  • Respond appropriately to any emergency.
  • Perform chemical testing and documents results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and training.
  • Maintain a professional attitude.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.
