Lifeguard

About the position

The lifeguard is responsible for the safety of the students while in the pool area.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the health and safety of the students in the pool area.
• Ensure appropriate and efficient emergency response when needed.
• Enforce the pool rules in an appropriate, fair and equitable manner and explain the rationale for the rule(s) when needed.
• Assist students as needed, but without compromising the safety of others using the pool.
• Adhere to the policies and procedures set forth in the Staff Manual.
• Attend meetings as requested.
• Be on time and cover all assigned hours.
• Attend to the cleanliness of the Pool area and its equipment.
• Perform other job related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Experience lifeguarding in a pool area with children.
