About The Position

The Lifeguard position at Miami Beach JCC is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and promoting a friendly environment. The role requires vigilance and the ability to react calmly in emergencies, as well as performing various maintenance tasks to keep the pool and surrounding areas clean and safe. Lifeguards will work primarily Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with weekend shifts available.

Requirements

• Valid certifications in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard (L.G.), and Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Skill in lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation.
• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Guard the safety of patrons at the pool.
• Maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Record chemicals and test results in the computer.
• Check balancing tank water levels and fill pallets as necessary.
• Perform cleaning tasks including brushing walls, skimming surfaces, and vacuuming the pool.
• Sweep and hose down the pool deck, and pressure wash as needed.
• Hose down and scrub access halls.
• Remove and reset aquatic equipment after use.
• Assist swim teachers by fetching necessary equipment.
• Keep accurate attendance logs and totalize at the end of the day.
• Complete daily opening, during the day, and closing task lists.
• Attend mandatory in-service training and meetings.
• Keep all certifications up to date and on file.
• Know and adhere to the assigned work schedule.
• Close outdoor guard-stand umbrellas during strong winds.
