The Lifeguard classification is eligible for the Recreation/Community Services Department's Seasonal Attraction and Retention Program. As part of this program, incumbents that work a minimum number of hours during a defined period within the summer season may be eligible to receive an incentive payment up to $1,000! The Recreation & Community Services department is now seeking enthusiastic individuals to staff its five (5) aquatic facilities located throughout the City. Lifeguards are responsible for observing swimmers to ensure safety and enforcing rules to guard lives and prevent accidents. The Lifeguard is a paid, part-time/temporary position in the City's year-round aquatics program scheduled to work no more than 29 hours per week and is not eligible to participate in the City's health insurance or retirement plans. The work schedule is determined by availability, operating hours, and the incumbent's skill level in the position.
