The Lifeguard position at Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center is a part-time, seasonal role focused on ensuring the safety and supervision of patrons in and around the aquatic areas. Under the direction of the Aquatics Safety Supervisor, the lifeguard will perform essential duties related to water safety, enforce facility rules, and provide first aid and CPR as necessary. This role requires effective communication and a professional demeanor while interacting with patrons and staff.

  • Perform Lifeguard duties effectively.
  • Supervise patrons to prevent unsafe conditions and behavior.
  • Enforce rules, regulations, policies, and ordinances governing patron conduct.
  • Respond to accidents or situations in or out of the water, providing first aid and CPR as necessary.
  • Participate in record keeping of accidents, rescues, water temperature, and chemical testing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Fitness Center and pool areas.
  • Report unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Maintain positive relations with patrons and assist them in a productive manner.
  • Respond promptly to questions and concerns from patrons.
  • Handle rule violators tactfully and professionally.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Assist other lifeguards and area personnel as necessary.
  • At least 15 years of age.
  • Certification in Standard First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training, and First Aid Training from an approved certifying agency.
  • Ability to pass a Center prepared water test.
  • Effective communication skills with patrons, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Ability to hear average or normal conversations.
  • Average vision acuity necessary for document inspection and operation of machinery.
  • Alert, attentive, and responsible demeanor.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
