About The Position
The Lead Lifeguard (Seasonal) position in the Parks & Recreation Department involves performing duties that require independence, accountability, and responsibility. Lifeguards will be responsible for testing water levels and safety equipment daily, ensuring the safety of visitors, and supervising other lifeguards. The employment is seasonal, traditionally lasting up to 5 months, and requires availability on weekends and holidays. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and possess a valid license or picture ID and an original Social Security card at the time of the interview. If hired, the applicant must pay for and attend a lifeguard training class and purchase a lifeguard uniform. Preference will be given to those who already hold the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
