About The Position

The position involves enforcing regulations and protecting life at a City pool. The employee will supervise and schedule the work assignments of part-time and temporary lifeguards and/or other part-time and temporary staff as needed. Responsibilities may include instructing and organizing classes on water safety, life-saving procedures, and swimming. The employee will assist with in-service training for aquatics personnel and must possess effective communication skills, both orally and in writing. The role requires patrolling and observing the pool area to ensure appropriate use by patrons, rescuing patrons in distress, and administering Standard First Aid and/or CPR as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months experience as a lifeguard.
• Valid certifications: AFO or CPO Certification, Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor.
• Ability to pass the City of Miami's performance test.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma and six months of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with periodic inspections of rescue and emergency life support equipment.
• Perform custodial and janitorial tasks to maintain a clean facility area.
• Tally daily collection of monies received.
