About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service to all pool patrons by exemplifying a positive attitude and exceeding the needs of patrons. This position handles financial transactions, registrations, refunds, data entry, balances daily cash reports, tests pool chemicals and ensures a fun and safe environment for all patrons. The Lifeguard I position is the entry level position in the Aquatics – Recreation series of employment. This position is the first point of contact for all patrons entering the pools and is expected to greet everyone as they arrive. The Lifeguard I serves as a pool cashier and lifeguard during open swim and swim lesson hours.

Requirements

• No minimum requirement for Education
• No minimum requirement for Experience
• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Current StarGuard Elite Certification or American Red Cross Certification.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of computers for registration/data input.
• Water rescue and lifesaving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
• Customer service excellence principles.

Responsibilities

• Greets all patrons arriving at facility. Answers inquiries for Aquatics programming and provides information to patrons.
• Processes swim lesson registrations, open swim fees, and all other pool financial transactions. Balances daily cash reports prior to leaving facility.
• Assists with the inventory for pool/office supplies.
• Assists with the distribution and collection of evaluations. Completes required paperwork as needed.
• Participates in all in-service trainings throughout seasons.
• Enforces all pool rules and regulations.
• Provides assistance in the mentoring of Junior Lifeguards.
• Assists with pool maintenance projects and assignments as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned by Assistant Pool Manager and Head Pool Manager.
