About The Position
The Lifeguard I position at the San Mateo County Community College District is a short-term, hourly role focused on ensuring the safety of swimmers at the Community Fitness Center. This position is critical in monitoring all pool activities, including academic sessions, team practices, water exercise classes, and both group and private lessons. Lifeguards are expected to work collaboratively with fellow lifeguards to maintain a safe swimming environment, adhering to safety protocols mandated by state regulations and district policies. Lifeguards will also be involved in the training and daily practices of safety functions, ensuring that all safety equipment, including AEDs, is properly maintained and ready for use at the beginning of each shift. In addition to monitoring the safety of swimmers, the Lifeguard I will report any safety or compliance concerns to the Lifeguard II, ensuring that all operations meet state and county standards. This role requires a commitment to teamwork and cooperation, as lifeguards will support each other and assist in the smooth operation of aquatics programming.
