About The Position

SUMMARY:  Lifeguards assist the Head Lifeguard in maintaining strict safety rules and procedures at the pool and waterfront, while at the same time creating an atmosphere of fun for the swimmers and boaters. Properly maintain the pool and waterfront areas as directed by the Head Lifeguard. Specific Duties-Lifeguard: Work with the Head Lifeguard to: Set up buddy system for swimmers Plan fair and effective system of consequences for rules broken Create interesting presentation of rules & safety procedures Conduct swim tests, help supervise pool or waterfront activities as per schedule. Help with daily cleaning and maintenance of all aquatic areas – pool, changing rooms, equipment rooms, Waterfront dock and equipment Participate in all staff meetings, evening programs and devotions.  Assist with program components as needed. Specific Duties- Janitorial/Housekeeping General maintenance and cleaning of the guest cottages, chapel, offices, hallways and bathrooms. Washing of camp laundry, including cleaning the kitchen laundry, making sure the linen bins are clean, putting away linens, and keeping the linen room in an orderly fashion.

Requirements

  • Must pass all applicable background checks
  • English proficiency sufficient for communication with supervisors, co-workers, clients and customers
  • Must be at least 16 years of age (BFOQ)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 6 months related experience in a personal relationship with Christ and working with youth
  • This individual must be of good character, mature and able to uphold the Christian standards and ministries of The Salvation Army in all areas of job responsibilities
