About The Position
The University of North Texas is seeking a dedicated and responsible Lifeguard to join our Recreational Sports Department. This position is essential for maintaining a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for our community. The Lifeguard will be responsible for monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, throughout the summer of 2024. Lifeguards must be proficient swimmers, capable of swimming 300 yards weekly, and comfortable working in a service-oriented environment. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to perform physical tasks associated with lifeguarding duties, such as lifting, swimming, and maintaining pool cleanliness. In addition to monitoring the safety of patrons, the Lifeguard will manage the general care and maintenance of the aquatic facilities, including cleaning duties and chemical handling. The position also involves attending all required in-services, staff meetings, and orientations to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures. Lifeguards will be expected to promote a positive work environment and exemplify customer service by managing conflict situations and controlling misconduct. This role is vital in upholding the standards of safety and service that the University of North Texas is known for, and it offers an opportunity to contribute to the wellness and recreational experiences of the UNT community.
