About The Position

The Lifeguard Coordinator ensures the safety of members and guests by preventing and responding to emergencies. They ensure proper adherence to aquatics procedures and team members job expectations along with creating all Lifeguards weekly schedules. Responsible for communicating information to members and guests regarding the aquatics center and MVP Sports Clubs. This position is a part of the Aquatics Department reporting to the Clubs Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or 18 years and older.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification
  • Current American Red Cross First Aid
  • Any of the following Lifeguard Certification:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • Y.M.C.A. Lifeguard Certification
  • Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Certification.
  • Current Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) preferred.
  • Excellent with water rescue skills (spinal injury, active and passive victim rescues).
  • Excellent First Aid, CPR and AED skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Available to work the entire summer.
  • Available to cover any needed shifts M-F and all day shifts on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Must be able to work extra hours, weekends, holidays.
  • Physical Requirements: Bend, stoop, crouch, climb, stand, sit and turn/pivot, lift/lower, push, pull and carry up to 40 lbs. Perform office tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, typing, and/or word processing, filing, calculating and use of telephone. See, hear, and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment efforts, in partnership with TA Manager, for any Lifeguard openings.
  • Create and manage schedules for all Lifeguards.
  • Approve bi-weekly payroll for the aquatics team.
  • Perform all team member performance reviews in a timely and efficient manager.
  • Responsible for brand-standard execution of aquatics programming.
  • Enforce and follows all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform all job functions at an exceptional level while adhering to areas of accountability and outlined operating procedures.
  • Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies as defined in aquatics operating guidelines. During aquatics emergencies, the Head Lifeguard takes control, handling the emergency and communication with management.
  • Inspects the aquatic facility/water slides on a daily basis; report unsafe conditions and equipment to management.
  • Neatly maintains the aquatic areas and restrooms. Maximizing down time by conducting custodial duties as assigned with team members.
  • Effectively communicate members’ concerns, comments, and questions to management.
  • Maintain working knowledge regarding the maintenance and cleaning of the swimming pools and spas.
  • Communicate any staffing/maintenance issues with respective Manager/Team Leader.
  • Conduct water chemistry tests.
  • Completes and maintains records and reports. Logs daily report sheets/water slide inspections in Health Department Book daily.
  • Assists in the coordination of required in-service trainings and training staff.
  • Assists with summer staff scheduling and responsible for securing staffing coverage in the event of operational/weather related emergencies.
  • Talk to at least three program participants per month about feedback concerning program.
  • Promote group swim lessons and other aquatics programs to two parents per week
  • Attend and participate in regular Service Game training sessions as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain a neat and professional personal appearance, by wearing the MVP Sports Clubs inform (see uniform matrix) and name badge.
  • Other duties assigned.
