The Life Skills Instructor (LSI) at Villa of Hope plays a crucial role in providing quality care and supervision for clients within the Residential Addiction Treatment Program. Under the general direction of the LIFE Program Manager, the LSI is responsible for implementing treatment plans tailored to each client, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and supporting clients in developing essential life skills. This position requires a commitment to the agency's mission, vision, values, and guiding principles, as well as adherence to all relevant policies and regulations. The LSI is tasked with maintaining a secure environment, supervising clients during individual and group activities, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and state regulations. Responsibilities include documenting client interactions, supervising medication administration, and reporting any medical issues. The LSI also leads recreational activities, assists clients with daily routines, and transports them to off-campus appointments or activities. Building positive relationships with clients based on trust and respect is a fundamental aspect of this role, as is working collaboratively with the treatment team to develop and maintain individualized treatment and crisis support plans. In addition to direct client care, the LSI is expected to uphold the agency's Code of Conduct, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate cultural competency. The position requires critical thinking and decision-making skills, particularly in crisis situations, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The LSI must also complete required training, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), to ensure the safety and well-being of clients and staff.
