About The Position

The Life Skills Counselor (AAI) position at Valley Youth House involves empowering and strengthening the lives of children, youth, and families through inclusive programming that builds resilience and fosters growth and independence. The counselor will work from a trauma-informed perspective, incorporating positive youth development and cultural awareness into all aspects of services. The role includes facilitating 748 hours of 1:1 instruction with assigned caseloads, ensuring timely completion of paperwork, and representing the organization at court hearings and public events.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree or equivalent of 60-90 college credits in Social Work or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the social services field if the degree is in an unrelated field.
  • One or more years experience working with youth and young adults or providing case management services.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate 748 hours (17 hours a week x 44 weeks) of 1:1 instruction with assigned caseload working on youth-established goals in the Transition plan.
  • Ensure the timely & accurate completion of all required paperwork per the AAI Paperwork Guidelines document.
  • Ensure timely updates to all members of the client's team per the guidelines listed in the approved program description.
  • Professionally represent Valley Youth House at all Court hearings, professional meetings, and public events.
