About The Position

Intercept Health is a family-owned agency in Virginia, providing mental and behavioral health, substance use, and foster care services. Established in 1996, the agency has grown to meet the needs of families and communities across Virginia, with a mission to "help people grow and live their healthiest lives." This full-time position as a Life Skills Coach at YouthQuest's Independent Living Apartment Program involves actively engaging with young adults, aged 17-21, who are preparing for a successful transition into the community. The role requires serving as a positive role model and supporting residents in developing essential life skills, obtaining employment, completing education, and exploring career opportunities. The coach will also contribute to the formulation and implementation of transitional living plans and assist with various administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's diploma in any field plus two years of experience in providing case management services to children and families
  • OR a human service Bachelor's degree (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Special Education, etc) with experience providing case management services to children/youth and their families
  • OR a human service Master's degree (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Special Education, etc) with a student placement providing case management services to children/youth and their families

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with young adults, ages 17-21, who are preparing for successful transition into the community
  • Serve as a positive role model for residents to observe and learn socially effective values, attitudes, and behaviors
  • Support residents in developing money management skills
  • Support residents in obtaining employment
  • Support residents in completing their education as applicable
  • Support residents in learning daily living skills
  • Support residents in exploring career development opportunities
  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the resident transitional living plan
  • Assist with life skills learning
  • Assist with transportation
  • Assist with administrative duties
