About The Position

The Life Skills Coach / Activities & Vocational Support staff member provides direct support to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities by assisting with daily living skills, implementing active treatment plans, facilitating meaningful recreational activities, and supporting pre-vocational and vocational skill development. This position promotes independence, engagement, dignity, and quality of life in accordance with each resident’s Individual Program Plan (IPP), behavior support plans, and applicable ICF/IID regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work effectively with adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an ICF/IID or vocational setting
  • Coursework in human services, vocational rehabilitation, or related field
  • CPR, First Aid, CPI certification or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
  • Support independent living, social, communication, and self-advocacy skills
  • Know each resident personally to support individual needs and preferences
  • Fill in as a resident aide as needed to ensure continuity of care
  • Implement activity portions of active treatment plans for ICF/IID residents
  • Plan and deliver fun, safe, and engaging daily activities, including weekends
  • Assist residents with activities outlined in the IPP and Activities Binder
  • Develop and display thematic and holiday decorations throughout the facility
  • Plan and implement pre-vocational and vocational training activities
  • Teach job-related skills including task completion, time management, communication, and teamwork
  • Assess resident interests, strengths, and support needs related to vocational participation
  • Incorporate vocational goals into residents’ IPPs in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Coordinate on-site vocational activities and community-based vocational or volunteer opportunities
  • Document participation, skill acquisition, and progress toward vocational goals
  • Transport residents to on-campus and off-campus activities using facility vehicles
  • Transport residents to medical, vocational, and personal appointments
  • Shop with and for residents in the local community to promote independence
  • Prepare documentation related to IPPs, behavior support plans, and vocational goals
  • Complete reports required by licensing and regulatory entities
  • Accurately document daily activities and resident progress
  • Report complaints, incidents, or concerns to the Program Director or Program Coordinator
  • Participate in ICF/IID and Rainbow Omega meetings or committees as requested
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and external partners
  • Operate office equipment including computer, printer, and copier
  • Submit supply requests to the Program Coordinator
  • Perform other duties as assigned
