About The Position

The Life Safety Specialist with the assistants of the Facilities and Security Departments will assist the Safety Officer in the development and implementation of all safety policies and programs on the UF Health Jacksonville campuses and off-site clinics.

Requirements

• GED or High School Diploma.
• Required to complete 40-hour HazWoper course within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Must have the ability to work independently of campus support.
• Excellent problem solving and decision making skills during emergency situations, such as fire response, chemical spills and participation in the decontamination team.
• Ability to present to large groups.
• Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft office
• Valid Florida or Georgia Drivers license with clean record, or violations not exceeding maximum points as provided in hospital policy.
• 1-2 years Safety or Fire Safety related background

Nice To Haves

• 4 year degree in applicable field and Certified Health Safety Professional.
• Certified Health Safety Professional.
• One year safety experience in health care.
• Familiar with National Fire Protection Associations Life Safety Code 101 or has completed Fire Training School courses.
