Lifeguard Positions (Lifeguard I-III) All RTH lifeguards must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire and certified through Labor Day in: Lifeguarding (Red Cross / YMCA / BSA) Ability to teach classes and participate with members of the community First Aid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (Basic Life Support / Healthcare Provider) Note: Certification must include two-rescuer CPR and the use of and AED and BVM. "Online only" courses are not acceptable. You must have your skills verified in person with an authorized instructor who then issues certification. Lifeguard I - 0-3 years' experience $22.60-$24.00 Lifeguard II - 3-5 years' experience $24.00-$26.00 Lifeguard III- 5-7 years' experience $26.00-$28.00 If you hold a certificate other than those listed above, please contact HR to determine whether your certification meets the required standards. Not certified? No problem! RTH offers a reimbursement for lifeguard certification classes. Lead Lifeguard Positions (Lifeguard IV) Lead Lifeguards are considered to be part of the professional lifeguard leadership team at all RTH Aquatics Facility. As such, lead lifeguards must meet the minimum certification requirements applicable to all lifeguards at their facility. They must be able to conduct themselves professionally and manage the lifeguard team in the absence of the Director of Aquatics/PE. Additionally, lead lifeguards must: Have 7-10 years of aquatics experience. Be at least 21 years old; Have supervisory experience on the pool deck of up to one-two years; Possess at least eight seasons (80 weeks) of full-time or equivalent part time lifeguarding experience; Possess certification in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Management (certification obtained online); and Preferably possess current certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor. Lifeguard Lead - 7-10 years' experience $28.00-$30.00 RTH will again offer hiring bonuses of $1,250. RTH is offering an early sign-on bonus of $250 to candidates who submit a complete lifeguard application by June 15, 2026 and commit to staying through the summer, and $250 for candidates who are hired and working by Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Additionally, RTH is offering a $250 retention bonus that will be provided to lifeguards who commit to working for the department through Sunday, August 30, 2026, and an additional $500 for those who work through Tuesday, September 1, 2026. So if you stay for the entire summer a total payout will be $1,250. Schedule: Monday - Sunday with variable hours available. Ful time schedule for all level of lifeguards. Set schedules. Qualifications: Minimum 18 years of age for Life Guards and 21 years of age for Lead Life Guards. Lifeguard experience preferred; minimum experience working with children/youth required. Current certifications in Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, Pro CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen, or willingness to obtain. Must be able to swim 300 yards, retrieve a 10# brick from 9.5 feet, and tread water for 2 minutes using legs only. Ability to work with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
