The Clinical Educator will provide administrative support devoted to education and staff development as well as maintaining competencies to provide patient transport responsibilities. Will work under the direction and collaboratively with Life Flight Clinical Leadership in the orientation, maintenance, and continued development of all the Life Flight disciplines. Involvement with community outreach education to include but not limited to, critical care topics, as well as paramedic advanced life support level transfers.   • Provides professional and competent care at the specialty care transport level for safe patient transports in a ground or air asset.
  • Works with another specialty care transport provider in assessing, interpreting collected data, and formulating a priority-based plan of care utilizing knowledge and Life Flight protocols.
  • Continually re-evaluates the care provided, the patient’s response, and makes necessary changes.
  • Documents assessment data, times, medications, equipment utilized, personnel involved, and treatment provided to accurately reflect the transport.
  • Collaborates with the clinical leadership team to perform a gap analysis utilizing, quality indicators, case reviews, surveys, and evaluations to determine educational and training needs.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of education and training programs based on professional, organizational, state consortiums, and Commission for the Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards.
  • Collaborates in the development of simulation scenarios for crew competency development and maintenance, as well as to provide experiential learning opportunities.
  • Obtain and maintain contact hours for education credits for all applicable licensure levels to include both internal and external education.
  • Assists in the development of a yearly education plan for competency maintenance and arranges or provides opportunities for crew to meet expectations.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse from the state of Ohio. (Required)
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification from the state of Ohio (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association or Red Cross. (Required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross. (Required)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross. (Required)
  • Associate of Nursing Field of Study Nursing (Required)
  • 3 years of high acuity critical care nursing experience (Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit). (required)
  • 1 year of education/curriculum development and presentation. (required)
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification from the state of Michigan. (Preferred)
  • Current EMS Instructor Certification in state of Ohio. (Preferred)
  • Current EMS Instructor Certification in state of Michigan. (Preferred)
  • CAMTS approved specialty certification: Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) or Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN) required within 18 months of hire. (Preferred)
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) required within 6 months of hire. (Preferred)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire. (Preferred)
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Independent Study (IS) 100 and 200 required within 6 months of orientation. (Preferred)
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC) required within 12 months of hire.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) (Preferred)
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (Preferred)
  • Previous specialty care transport experience. (preferred)
  • 3 years of Intensive Care Unit work experience. (preferred)
  • 1 year of high-fidelity simulation development and presentation. (preferred)
  • 1 year of continuing education contact hour submission process. (preferred)
