Requirements

  • Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
  • Current certification CPR - Basic Rescue or Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Current certification Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Current certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
  • Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
  • Current valid driver license.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in EMS field with progressive experience.
  • Successful completion of advanced level inter-facility transport training.
  • Outstanding inter-personal communications skills.
  • Experience in accident scene management and control.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful certification as a Flight Paramedic-Certified (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic-Certified (CCP-C) within twelve (12) months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Administers skilled pre-hospital medical care to individuals, in response to requests for emergency and non-emergency critical care treatment and transport.
  • Examines, assesses, and stabilizes patients at emergency scene and/or point of origin of inter-facility transport.
  • Performs definitive basic and advanced life support when required.
  • Administers treatment and utilizes advanced life support equipment and procedures as directed by authorized physician(s).
  • Prepares patients for transport and consults with radio communications specialist regarding appropriate medical facility.
  • Monitors patient in ambulance or helicopter to maintain stability and administers additional treatment enroute when necessary.
  • Assists with Intra-aortic balloon pump, LVAD, and ECMO therapy.
  • Demonstrates competence in the use of various medical equipment and treatment modalities.
  • Responds to a wide range of emergency and non-emergency transport situations.
  • Conducts triage, treatment and transportation at mass casualty incidents.
  • Documents all care received by patients.
  • Cares for all patient populations with acute and emergent medical conditions.
  • Reports all mandatory reportable diseases and situations.
  • Maintains possession of and accountability for controlled substances.
  • Maintains up-to-date records of inventory of medications and ensures emergency vehicle is properly stocked.
