ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES of a Life Enrichment Specialist (including but not limited to) Completes documentation and assessments per Oakwood guidelines as well as state and federal regulations including initial life enrichment evaluation and assessment including past and present leisure interests and documenting progress notes as applicable. Coordinates and/or assists with development of the monthly life enrichment calendars. Assists with the orientation and education of new staff on life enrichment. Recognizes the needs of the individual to encourage and motivate him/her to pursue and maintain leisure interests whether it is in a group, independent, and/or one-on-one setting. Develops, organizes, and implements therapeutic programs that meet individual functioning levels, leisure interests and needs. Maintains orderliness/cleanliness in leisure areas/rooms and storage areas. Assists interested individuals to and from program locations, as necessary. Completes assigned and scheduled programs and setup with necessary materials/equipment, in order to implement programs. Works with, trains and supervises assigned volunteers to assist with programs. Demonstrates creativity and adaptability in designing programs, to promote a variety of techniques, styles and individual preferences. Adapts programs to meet individual needs and/or interests. Cleans-up and re-organizes areas following programs. Maintains department records which include but are not limited to: daily attendance records, individual history and assessment information, individual goals/approaches, and other record keeping as assigned. Engages with interdisciplinary team members, family members, and volunteers who are involved with specific individuals. Attends in-services and/or workshops as assigned or approved by the supervisor. Performs other similar duties as needed.
