About The Position

The Life Enrichment Lead works directly with residents, providing acceptance, friendliness, and compassion. Activity programs are designed based on residents' interests, strengths, and needs, fostering an atmosphere of warmth, success, and encouragement. This role involves planning, preparing, and facilitating activities that address the mental, physical, emotional, social, and community needs of residents. The ultimate goal is to enhance residents' quality of life, enabling them to function at their optimum level and meet their physical, emotional, intellectual, community, and social well-being needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic activity course (a willingness to take this course)
Attend all on-going activity training
Good physical and mental health
Ability to maintain outgoing, cheerful, enthusiastic personality
Have efficient time management skills
Effective communication skills
Ability to work with others in close proximity
Self-motivated, work independently
Ability to contribute to a friendly, homelike atmosphere
Have knowledge of various activities and be familiar with resident’s limitations
Ability to read, write, and follow directions
Ability to speak clearly, and to make self-understood to residents of varying abilities
Ability to think creatively, plan and problem solve
Ability to prepare, present, and evaluate activity
Possess good phone etiquette
Record keeping ability

Nice To Haves

Previous work with seniors is desirable.
Musical/performance ability desirable

Responsibilities

Provide personal contact with residents allowing them to feel successful; that their life has a purpose and to continue to pursue their interests and use their remaining abilities.
To provide one-to-one visits; inviting residents to activities in a way that makes them feel welcome
Creating and maintaining a warm, loving environment
Use age and mind appropriate interaction in activities
Use good listening skills
Explain activities to residents in a way that encourages involvement, respects their rights and gives choices whenever possible
Planning, preparing and facilitating activities that meet the resident’s mental, physical, emotional, social and community needs.
Offer activities which are a variety and meet different levels of ability
Work with the HD in the planning and development of these programs, ever looking for new and improved ways of doing things.
Perform miscellaneous functions that emerge daily with kindness, willingness, and spontaneity.
Order food and supplies for the department
Arrange transportation, or assist on outings
Prepare food for activities and clean area when completed
Photograph events, sharing interesting events for the Beacon
Responsible for monthly newsletter and calendar planning
Perform computer work as required
Help enhance the environment through seasonal and monthly decoration along with the HD
Have an outgoing inventory of activity supplies
Serve as an example of excellence in meeting work requirements
Report for and leave work on a timely basis, completing tasks as scheduled
Attend in-services and all necessary training
Participate in annual performance evaluation process
Maintain a professional conduct and pleasant, friendly attitude towards staff, residents and visitors
Be willing to learn and change to meet needs that arise
