About The Position

As a Life Enrichment Coordinator - Assisted Living for Frank Residences, you will plan and lead a variety of person-centered programs designed to enhance the emotional, social, and recreational well-being of residents in assisted living and memory care settings. You will foster a positive and engaging environment through group, one-on-one, and self-directed activities while promoting inclusion, creativity, and meaningful resident connection. This role supports interdisciplinary collaboration, documentation compliance, and the overall quality of life across campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy, psychology, social work, healthcare, recreation administration, or related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with older adults in group or long-term care settings.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and group facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulness in program development.
  • Sensitivity to diverse physical, emotional, cognitive, and cultural needs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to engage individuals from diverse cultural, religious, and social backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry.
  • Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach.
  • Fine motor skills and good visual and auditory acuity.
  • Ability to safely transport residents in wheelchairs without fatigue over extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing opportunities for therapeutic self-expression for residents at all stages of memory loss, utilizing a wide variety of modalities to optimize quality of life and functional ability.
  • Facilitate programs that encourage social interaction, reduce isolation and boredom, and decrease the frequency and severity of behaviors associated with dementia.
  • Create a positive, caring, and stimulating environment that respects the diverse personalities and cultural backgrounds of all residents.
  • Motivate residents to actively participate in Life Enrichment programs to enhance quality of life and maintain cognitive functioning.
  • Encourage participation from families, volunteers, and caregiver staff as appropriate.
  • Understand and respond to the individual needs and abilities of residents and families, adapting activities accordingly.
  • Provide one-on-one engagement for residents who decline or are unable to participate in group activities.
  • Support the psychosocial needs of residents and families by providing emotional support during times of crisis or decline.
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner, including attendance records, care plans, activity notes, and mandated reports as required.
  • Collaborate with caregiver staff, Byer Square staff, and Life Enrichment teams across campus to promote teamwork, quality outcomes, and meaningful programming.
  • Mentor and support student interns and volunteers involved in activities.
