About The Position

The Life Coach position at Acceleration Academies is designed to support high school students in overcoming challenges to achieve academic success and personal growth. The role involves collaborating with a team to provide case management, develop personalized learning pathways, and ensure students are on track for high school graduation and post-secondary success. Life Coaches play a crucial role in fostering a supportive learning environment and addressing non-academic barriers that may hinder student attendance and achievement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • School Social Worker credential or LMSW highly preferred.
  • Demonstration of a clear state and federal criminal history.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish).
  • Proficient understanding of ESE and ELL practices.
  • Experience working in a non-traditional school setting.
  • Experience with at-risk youth.
  • Experience reviewing transcripts and understanding graduation requirements.
  • Experience providing supports and counseling services to high school-aged youth.
  • Strong understanding of technology in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support new student enrollment through recruitment and engagement efforts.
  • Assist with the implementation of Student Orientation.
  • Collaborate in the development of Personalized Learning Plans (PLP) for students.
  • Guide students in developing their schedules to meet attendance requirements.
  • Assign courses in accordance with the PLP for students.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure students attend as scheduled.
  • Participate in the Retention Cycle Protocol.
  • Address non-academic barriers that impede student attendance.
  • Advocate and support site-level incentive programs.
  • Analyze and use data for instructional decision-making.
  • Document and track student progress and assign academic interventions.
  • Maintain documentation for graduation requirements.
  • Implement weekly workshops focusing on non-academic topics.
  • Lead group and individual advisory sessions for communication between students and support teams.
  • Facilitate communications with community organizations to remove non-academic barriers.
  • Complete required data formulation for compliance reports.
