About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Three (3) years of experience working in a correctional setting.
• One (1) year of management or supervisory experience preferred.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or related field preferred.
• Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, and able to command respect and confidence from detainees and staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervises security/control activities and staff in an assigned area.
• Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and regulations for custody, security, and/or treatment of detainees.
• Responds to major unusual occurrences and facilitates prompt assistance to detainees in case of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
• Promotes an atmosphere conducive to personality and character development of detainees and staff.
• Directs the work of other employees, including selection, hiring, evaluating job performance, and training.
• Makes assignments, reviews post orders, and ensures staff is trained in emergency procedures.
• Reviews disciplinary matters concerning both staff and detainees.
• Conducts frequent physical inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Prepares records and reports as assigned by management and maintains daily logs.
• Responsible for attaining facility goals/objectives and ensuring compliance with security operations.
• Directs work, provides training, and performs inspections of work performed by detainee staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
