About The Position

The Lieutenant position is a full-time role within the security department, responsible for overseeing security operations and ensuring the safety of the public, students, employees, and property at LLUH. The Lieutenant works under the Director of Security, providing professional interaction with various stakeholders, responding to emergencies, and supervising security staff. This role includes investigating incidents, documenting safety hazards, and acting as a liaison with law enforcement agencies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Minimum eight years of progressive service as a Security Officer in a medical center or university environment required.
• Previous P.O.S.T. Certification or retired law enforcement officer with a minimum of eight years of service required.
• Minimum ten years of general security experience accepted in lieu of medical center/university requirement.
• Ability to perform job duties while wearing necessary equipment and personal protective gear.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English with professional quality.
• Experience using computer software programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a medical center or university environment.
• Previous law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations and scheduling of the security department.
• Provide training, direction, and overall management to all security employees.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance.
• Investigate and document safety hazards, incidents, and criminal activities.
• Patrol designated areas to ensure the protection of the public and property.
• Act as a liaison to other departments and law enforcement agencies.
• Assume responsibilities of the Director in their absence.
• Perform physical and environmental demands as outlined in the job description.
