About The Position

Instruct SCDC lesson plans, enter classes in CRT, assist with any training done at the institution with training aids and other equipment. Assure all new employees receive Institutional Orientation and E-learning prior to shift assignments. Keep training records of all employees and assist with management, review and training policies. Maintain contact with the Training Academy concerning New Employee Orientation and Basic Training. Keep abreast of security employee's certification dates and driving authorizations. Assist with leave and attendance, overtime complications and institutional tours for new security employees. Set training schedules annually for all security and set an annual schedule for employees to complete Defensive Driving requirements. Maintain an Unauthorized to Drive List/Draw Weapon List. Produce monthly institutional training reports. Maintain class rosters. Attend SCDCTA meeting regarding institutional training and new implementations regarding training. Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
  • Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
  • Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
