About The Position

The Licensing Specialist at SAFY is responsible for the licensing and retention of quality foster homes and adoptive parents, ensuring they meet community and organizational needs. This role involves training, support, and maintaining relationships with foster parents and stakeholders to promote the welfare of youth in care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, sociology, child and family studies, or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant work experience in human services or child welfare.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and facilitating group training.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including conflict resolution abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record with auto insurance coverage.
  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR and de-escalation training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Electronic Health Records.

Nice To Haves

  • SAFE Home Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement all foster parent onboarding and retention rules, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Provide development and training for prospective foster parents regarding the needs of youth and their home environment.
  • Conduct home visits to assess families' abilities to foster and assist in the licensing process.
  • Develop comprehensive home studies for families in compliance with local regulations.
  • Assist families in completing necessary paperwork and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete annual evaluations and ensure compliance for re-certification of foster parents.
  • Collaborate with internal partners on recruitment, retention, and support strategies for foster parents.
  • Provide information and support to foster parents regarding education, meetings, and retention activities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders, sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Work nontraditional hours as needed, including weekends.
