About The Position

PURPOSE: Here at Safe Children Coalition, it is our mission TO PROTECT CHILDREN, STRENGTHEN FAMILIES, AND BUILD COMMUNITY. As a Licensing Specialist, you'll guide, support, and license foster families, helping build safe, loving homes for children who need them most. This role blends compassion with compliance — ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, staying organized, and making a meaningful impact every day. Some key job duties in this vital role include: Family Engagement and Assessment: Build trusted relationships with foster families. Complete thorough, trauma-informed interviews and home assessments that prepare caregivers to meet the unique needs of children in care. Licensing and Relicensing: Guide families through the licensing process from start to finish. Conduct annual re-licensing and ensure compliance with all regulatory timelines and standards. Retention and Relicensing Visits: Conduct routine check-ins and visits to identify barriers early, offer solutions, and help foster families feel seen, heard, and valued. Support and Advocacy: Serve as the point of contact and resource for foster families on your caseload. Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and advocacy to help them succeed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
  • Minimum of two years social services experience.
  • Child Welfare Certification preferred. Must obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Possess valid Florida Driver’s License in good standing and be insurable by the agency’s current insurance carrier.
  • Must meet state criminal background check requirements.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and assess perspective foster families
  • Complete all initial and relicensing requirements for prospective foster families
  • Assist families with required trainings
  • Conduct all required procedures for annual re-licensing of foster families
  • Conduct required retention/waiver visits
  • Attendance and preparation of documentation for case review consultations for foster homes
  • Participation in case review consultations when applicable for dependency related case review consultations
