Under the supervision of the Licensing Program Manager I in the San Jose Child Care Office, the Child Care Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) is responsible for a comprehensive range of licensing duties. These duties include developing and implementing orientations and training programs for new licensees, reviewing applications for child care facilities, and making recommendations for license approval or denial. The LPA will also perform on-site evaluations of facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, investigate complaints regarding licensed and unlicensed facilities, and prepare administrative actions to deny, revoke, or suspend facility licenses when necessary. This role is critical in ensuring the health and safety of children in care, as well as fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion within the program. The LPA will work closely with various stakeholders, including facility operators, parents, and the child care community, to promote quality services and compliance with established standards. The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, climb stairs, and sit for extended periods while using a computer and keyboard. Travel is also a requirement of the job, as the LPA will need to visit various facilities for evaluations and inspections. The working environment is primarily office-centered, but occasional telework may be permitted. The LPA will attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to their job duties, and must be adaptable to varying work hours and schedules. The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is committed to serving, aiding, and protecting vulnerable children and families, and the LPA plays a vital role in this mission by ensuring that licensed facilities meet health and safety standards.
