Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • An advanced degree is preferred, such as a M.S. in a life/health sciences related field; strong preference for candidates with a Ph.D.
  • 1-2 years of experience in technology transfer, business development or equivalent intellectual property or business development experience.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technical skills and business acumen; ability to interact effectively in an academic and corporate environment.
  • Proficient at multitasking and an independent self-starter with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to manage a diverse set of relationships, tasks and projects.
  • Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail.

  • Knowledgeable about intellectual property and licensing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong working relationships with faculty, staff and graduate students in PSOM.
  • Evaluate technology disclosures to determine their commercial potential and develop 'go-no-go' decisions regarding pursuing patent protection.
  • Develop commercialization strategies for technology portfolios.
  • Perform marketing analysis to identify and market to targeted commercial partners and investors.
  • Prepare non-confidential marketing materials for assigned technologies.
  • Identify potential industry partners and investors; perform due diligence on potential commercial partners.
  • Perform technology valuation; initiate and lead the construction and negotiation of licensing and option agreements.
  • Assist with sponsored research agreements as required.
  • Organize and participate in outreach activities to engage and educate PSOM faculty about technology commercialization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
