About The Position

The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. The Texas A&M University System mission is to provide education, conduct research, commercialize technology, offer training, and deliver services for the people of Texas and beyond. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Sciences, or Life Sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates new disclosures for technical development, patentability, commercial potential, and practical utilities.
  • Recommends strategies for statutory protection and best paths to market.
  • Conducts market research, projections, and valuations of technologies.
  • Contacts potential licensees and explains possible utilities and value of new innovations to entice their interest.
  • Negotiates reasonable terms and conditions for licensing rights to use technologies with potential licensees.
  • Assists Senior Managers in mentoring licensing staff on topics related to marketing activities and proposed terms for licenses/options.
  • Assists faculty and researchers in disclosing novel intellectual property to TAMUS Technology Commercialization.
  • Assists in the implementation of campus-wide educational programs to increase the general awareness of intellectual property issues.
  • Interacts with Development Officers, Sponsored Research Services, and academic departments/Colleges as a resource for intellectual property matters.
  • Interacts with business and investment communities to promote utilization of TAMUS innovations for economic development.
