About The Position

Our team is looking for a global licensing professional with experience in structuring, drafting and executing thirdparty agreements that advance Syngenta Seeds’ strategic trait, germplasm and enabling technology portfolio priorities. Collaborate extensively with crossfunctional stakeholders (Commercial, R&D, Regulatory, Legal, Finance, and P&S) to align on key deal terms, risk positions, and value drivers to enable timely decisions and strong outcomes. Manage and grow strategic partnerships to maximize value from collaborations, while ensuring effective post-signature contract implementation with external partners. Will be actively collaborating as a contributor to the global licensing team with a focus on disciplined execution and business impact.

Requirements

  • 4 year University Degree or Masters Degree
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience
  • Understanding of global biotech (herbicide tolerance, insect tolerance, disease tolerance, native) traits, and whether owned by Syngenta or competitors
  • Germplasm understanding across major crops: corn, soy, sunflowers, cereals
  • Strong understanding of SYT development process and technology needs for traits/germplasm as well as testing needs at each development stage
  • Understand SYT technology portfolio and needs/gaps
  • Understanding of how agreements are created / managed for win: win outcomes and ability to recognize and mitigate risks
  • Ability to translate negotiated principles into relevant contract language/terms
  • Results-oriented and creative problem-solving mindset

  • Demonstration of creative problem solving capability, focusing on win: win solutions, with internal colleagues and 3rd parties
  • Ability to independently draft and/or mark-up medium-to-high complexity licensing agreements that reflect negotiated principles and/or business needs, and partner with legal to ensure compliance
  • Ability to support/lead (as appropriate) and be responsive and timely in 3rd party contract negotiations to drive priority projects for Syngenta Seeds
  • Business acumen and understanding / knowledge of deal structuring, negotiation, valuation, and intellectual property protection (freedom to operate, enforcement, etc.)
  • Excellent collaboration skills across multiple functions (commercial, R&D, strategy, legal, P&S, finance, regulatory, etc)
  • Ability to coach Regulatory team members in the context of contractual IRM/Stewardship requirements and their implementations

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for licensing and contract drafting for Cereals and Cotton crops and drive or support (depending on contract complexity) contract drafting for Corn and Soy, including trait licensing agreements, NDAs, MTAs, germplasm exchange agreements, line conversion contracts, trialing/testing contracts, including necessary amendments and contract updates (e.g. country supplements, product schedules, etc.)
  • Lead successful implementation of licenses post signing to support compliance with the contractual terms and ensure the value of the license is realized
  • Support other (regional) licensing teams (e.g. GLG, LATAM) in the execution of their activities and ensure global alignment as needed
