Join Berkeley Lab as a Licensing Manager in the Intellectual Property Office, where you will lead the charge in driving innovation and maximizing the impact of intellectual property (IP). Reporting to the Chief Technology Transfer Officer, you will be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of IP licensing at one of the world's leading research institutions. This role requires proficiency in licensing best practices and involves independently negotiating and managing licensing activities for lab intellectual property. You will negotiate and draft terms for technology options, licenses, agreements, and manage intellectual property provisions in research agreements such as Cooperative Research and Development Agreements and Strategic Partnership Project agreements. Additionally, you will oversee the Principal Licensing Associate and ensure effective collaboration with various departments. The Intellectual Property Office at Berkeley Lab licenses cutting-edge research that saves lives, generates revenue and jobs, reduces energy costs and consumption, and creates new industries. The Laboratory has partnered with hundreds of companies to move technology out the door and has been recognized with seven R&D 100 Awards. Together with the Strategic Partnerships Office, these two offices play a key role in facilitating the efficient and timely movement of Lab-developed technologies to market, leveraging research enterprise and technology transfer programs to create maximum societal impact. An ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in and awareness of DOE national laboratories and their critical roles within the nation's innovation ecosystem.
