About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide developmentally appropriate and age-specific direct and indirect patient care; performs designated procedures and treatments which require knowledge and technical expertise within the LVN scope of practice and in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, techniques, and guidelines; utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism; contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Education to meet requirements for California Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure.
  • Graduate of a school of vocational nursing.
  • Minimum six months of experience as an LVN required or two years back office Medical Assistant experience if primary assignment is for the physician clinics.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality
  • Assemble, troubleshoot, and calibrate patient care equipment
  • Perform technical patient care activities as required
  • Use computer and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
  • Be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies
  • Work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure
  • Lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate

  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone

  • See adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position
  • Discern temperature variances through touch.
  • Active California Vocational Nursing license required.
  • Basic life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year of clinical experience in area of specialty preferred.
  • California intravenous (IV) certification for designated areas preferred.
