As an LPN/LVN, you will work collaboratively with the providers within the team setting to facilitate quality care for the patient. Essential Functions of the Role: • Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers treatments in accordance with nursing standards. • Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids the provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. • Observes, records, and reports patients’ condition and reaction to drugs or treatments to providers. • Oversees appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains a timely flow of patients. • Greets patients and obtains well-documented history and vitals. Prepares patients for physical exam. Instructs patients in the collection of samples and tests. • In accordance with established procedures and as prescribed by applicable licensure/certification, may 1) obtain/record vital signs; 2) perform initial assessment on patient; 3) coordinate patient transfer to hospital and/or discharge; 4) give telephone orders; 5) accept telephone test results; 6) perform telephone triage; 7) call in provider • approved prescription refills; 8) obtain wound culture; 9) administer oxygen; 10) open sterile tray; 11) apply topical medications; 12) give oral medications; 13) give sublingual medications to adults patients. • Only if appropriate training has been obtained, may 1) perform blood collection by lancet; 2) pulse oximetry; 3) suture and/or staple removal; 4) administer breathing treatment; 5) give allergy/insulin/immunization medications to adult patients; 6) give intra-muscular and/or subcutaneous injections to adult patients; 7) give injections Z track to adult patients. • After verifying completion for special training, may perform 1) EKGs; • 2) assist/process biopsies; 3) start saline lock or IV fluids and monitor IV fluids; 4) stress echos; 5) treadmills. • May administer IV push medications and/or add medications to IV only after completion of special training and only under direct supervision of licensed practitioner. • May make arrangements for patient testing and admissions. • Per provider and/or established protocol, instructs patients and/or family about medication and treatment, and documents the same. • May formulate and update patient care plans. Orders, prepares, and inspects patient charts. Post tests and examination results. Reviews patient’s tests and examination results with the provider; documents instructions and notifies patient. • Maintains patient files, records, and other information professionally following policies and procedures regarding documentation. • Ensures preparation of exam rooms, including re-stocking of treatment areas. • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional licensure and affiliations. • Maintains patient confidentiality. • Uses oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner. • Maintains established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
