Under supervision by an RN, a Dentist, or a member of the Medical Staff, the LVN is responsible for providing general nursing care to patients. Responsibilities Sorts, prioritizes, and manages patient messages and calls to assist providers in assessing and caring for patients; manages the scheduling of patient appointments. Takes vital signs and medical history; completes blood pressure checks and injections; administers medication. Coordinates prescription refills and authorizations following protocol. Maintains assigned work area with supplies and equipment, cleans, stocks and maintains exam rooms, procedure rooms, instruments and equipment. Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT), documents and reports clinical findings to Registered Nurse (RN) in charge and/or Provider. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Functions within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Supports the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions. Communicates effectively, written and verbally. Possesses analytical thinking this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner. Participates as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient. Meets all training and competency requirements.
