The Triage Nurse continuously demonstrates positive customer relationship skills by assessing caller needs through active listening, clinical assessment, education and advanced problem-solving abilities. The Triage Nurse will actively manage patient’s immediate and ongoing needs with attention to ensuring positive patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nurse educational program. Must be currently licensed with the Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. CPR Certification.
  • Experience: Prior work in a Family Medicine setting, highly preferred
  • Knowledge of outpatient triage, prescription refills and Medical. Home practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Telehealth experience
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Other: Operational knowledge of physician practice. Knowledge of health insurance and managed care.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.
  • Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to deliver excellent customer service, externally and internally

  • Demonstrates knowledge of community resources.
  • Utilizes computer programs to assess, process, educate and document all information in an accurate manner.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of all utilized software programs.
  • Meets departmental quality and productivity standards.
  • Participates in departmental Quality improvements and initiatives.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities; provides constructive feedback for continued growth of the team.
  • Participates in staff meetings, departmental in-services, patient care conferences, committees, projects and other continuing education activities.
  • Evaluates environmental safety and maintains an environment that is safe.
