About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse II position at UT Health RGV Multispecialty in Edinburg involves providing nursing care as part of an inter-professional team. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse program from an approved school of Nursing.
  • Current Texas Licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and CPR certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification course accredited by the American Heart Association.
  • Three (3) years of experience in vocational nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a medical clinic setting or acute health care.
  • Ability to read, speak and write Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely management of work within policy guidelines and assess patient priority via call line and electronic systems.
  • Perform procedures such as Point of Care testing and administer vaccines and other clinical duties as trained.
  • Screen patients telephonically and in clinic, documenting screening and communication results in electronic health records.
  • Assist fellow employees in providing the highest quality personalized patient care.
  • Maintain and uphold established clinic patient care, operation, and employee policies as outlined in the UT Medicine Employee Handbook and UTRGV Employee Handbook.
  • Interface with providers, the inter-professional team, and patients to ensure optimal patient visit plans and experiences.
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service, maintaining professionalism in all communications and resolution of patient concerns.
  • Process requests for medication refills and paperwork, working closely with Medical Assistants to enhance workflow.
  • Alert RNs or providers to any patient concerns and report using accepted clinical communication methods for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
