About The Position

Schwarzman Animal Medical Center seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team in our MSU (Medical Surgical Unit). Excellence in veterinary medicine since 1910. Requirements

  • Must have a New York State Veterinary Technician’s license or permit
  • Must have animal handling experience and ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work successfully as part of a team
  • Must have ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations
  • Must have flexibility necessary to work additional hours when workload requires

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional and compassionate care to hospitalized patients
  • Perform treatments for hospitalized patients including fluid and drug administration, wound care, and monitoring of vitals
  • Identify and promptly communicate concerning changes in patient status
  • Operate syringe pumps, fluid pumps, dopplers, blood pressure monitors, point of care lab equipment and SP02 monitors
  • Maintain and stock inventory
  • Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful working relationships with team members and coworkers across every department
  • Must be able to work successfully both alone and as part of a team
  • Must have ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations
  • Flexibility and the ability to accommodate shift work in a hospital that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
