About The Position

The SLVS Neurology department is looking to grow our team of passionate individuals who are dedicated to aiding our canine and feline patients as well as their human caretakers. We are looking for someone to join us full-time in September or October 2025. Our goal is to provide top-notch compassionate care to patients with a variety of Neurological disorders. From seizures to paralysis & encephalitis to peripheral neuropathies, we see a variety of patients who need our help. Our Neurology team aids our Veterinary Neurologists with a myriad of procedures including but not limited to; thorough patient assessments, anesthetic MRIs, CSF taps, fluoroscopy guided epidural injections, surgical spinal cord decompression, diagnostic electromyography, therapeutic myringotomy, & chemotherapy infusions. As a Neurology Technician you will be part of a team that provides outstanding patient care and exceptional client service. Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists is a highly technician driven hospital that encourages growth and development. You will work alongside a team of specialized doctors and technicians who have made this field their true purpose in life. Our Hospital: In addition to Neurology, our team offers emergency care, critical care, diagnostic imaging, ICU, medical oncology, surgery, radiation oncology, and internal medicine. We are well equipped with digital radiography, a 128 slice CT with 3D recon abilities, an GE ultrasound, 1.5 Tesla MRI, and a full in-house laboratory. We offer fluoroscopy and laparoscopy and have scope towers for urinary, gastrointestinal, nasal, and orthopedic cases. We have a great atmosphere and established referral base.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent (Required)
  • Veterinary Technician: minimum of 2 years in general practice setting or completed Vet Tech program
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (Preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Obtained LVT (preferred, but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Collection and documentation of patient vital signs
  • Restraining animals for neurological examinations, procedures, and treatments
  • Collection and documentation of detailed accurate medical histories
  • Ensuring accurate medication prescription and administration
  • Client education: including demonstrating at home physical therapy and bladder expression
  • Aid in advanced imaging studies including radiology and MRI
  • Surgical nursing & OR operations
  • Thorough documentation of medical records
  • Use & operation of our PIMS system to schedule appointments, invoice services, and relay treatment plans
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the treatment areas
  • Excellent communication skills with co-workers and clients
  • Ability to work well with others as a team
  • Flexibility to adjust in a fast-paced environment
  • Handle stress and pressure calmly, with poise and tact
  • Self-motivated, hard worker
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate appropriately
